Abstract

This research aim was 1. To find out the students’ Reading Comprehension skills before using herringbone technique method for tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Nganjuk, 2. To find out the students’ Reading Comprehension skills after using herringbone technique method for tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Nganjuk, 3. To analyze any Significant different in students’ Reading Comprehension skill when using herringbone technique method to the students Reading Comprehension skills before and after treatment for tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Nganjuk. Reading ability one aspect of English that must be mastered by students where they will be easy to analyze in a text and can find solutions to problems in the text. In this study, I used Herringbone Technique to teach the reading comprehension skills of tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Nganjuk. Herringbone This technique is student-centered, so the activity will be directed directly to the student. The design of this study uses a quantitative approach and the type of Pre-Experimental research. The research design used is pre-test and post-test (One Group pre-test post-test). The population of this study is the entire class X of SMK Negeri 2 Nganjuk for the 2021/2022 school year. The sample used was all students of class X- TB 2 as an experimental class. Sampling using Purposive Sampling technique. The data analysis technique used to analyze the data in this study is t-test statistical analysis. Based on test scores, Students get a pre-test average score of 65 and a post-test average score of 83. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that a significant amount of 5% for Df = 34 thitung values = 11.866 and tcount = 1.694, then thitung 1.691, then tcount>ttable which means Ha is accepted. So "there is significant difference before and after taught by using the Herringbone technique on student learning outcomes in the reading comprehension of X grades at SMK Negeri 2 Nganjuk in the Academic Year of 2021/2022.” The use of Herringbone techniques to teach reading skills is able to make students interested and motivated to learn English. This method greatly helps students to develop reading comprehension skills, it is easy to find and understand problem solving, and the class will feel more active, since the source will be adapted to the student.
