Abstract
The aims of this study were 1. To determine the speaking skills of students in class X MIPA 3 at SMA Negeri 1 Rejoso in the Academic Year 2021/2022 before being taught using the Sentence Extender Game technique, 2. To determine the speaking skills of students in class X MIPA 3 in SMA Negeri 1 Rejoso for the Academic Year 2021/2022 after being taught using the Sentence Extender Game technique, 3. To find out the effectiveness of the Sentence Extender Game technique for improving the speaking skills of class X MIPA 3 students at SMA Negeri 1 Rejoso for the Academic Year 2021/2022. Speaking is one of the most important aspects of communication, students must have good speaking skills so that students can convey information or communicate effectively and listeners get points from what students convey. In this study, researchers used the Sentence Extender Game Technique to improve students' speaking skills in class X MIPA 3 at SMA Negeri 1 Rejoso. The Sentence Extender Game technique consists of playing game activities and lengthening a word into a long and coherent sentence and having a broad meaning. This technique makes students learn and play, think more creatively, increase their English vocabulary and train their activeness and confidence to speak. This research design uses a quantitative approach and the type of research is Pre-Experimental. The designs used in this research are pre test and post test (One group pre test post test). The population of this research is all class X SMA Negeri 1 Rejoso for the academic year 2021/2022. The samples used were students of class X MIPA 3 as the experimental class. Sampling using simple random sampling technique. The data analysis technique used to analyze the data in this study was the statistical t-test data analysis. Based on test scores. Students get an average pre-test score of 61.97 and an average post-test score of 79.19. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the significant level of 5% for Df = 35 t value = 37.43. and ttable = 1.690 , then tcount ttable which means Ha is accepted. So "there are students before and after learning using the Sentence Extender Game technique on student learning outcomes in the speaking skills of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Rejoso in the 2021/2022 academic year. The use of the Sentence Extender Game technique to improve students' speaking skills is also able to make the classroom atmosphere more fun and make students more enthusiastic, confident and active in learning. The use of this technique also provides a significant difference which makes the student's score before using this technique is bad and the student's score has increased to be good after using this technique. So that the Sentence Extender game technique is suitable to be applied to improve students' speaking skills. So "There is a significant difference before and after using the Sentence Extender Game Technique to improve the English speaking skills of class X MIPA 3 students of SMAN 1 Rejoso in the academic year 2021/2022."
