Abstract
The objectives of the research are : 1) To find out the student’ reading ability before using learner centred approach method for tenth grade MIPA 1 of SMA Negeri 2 Nganjuk in the Academic years of 2021/2022, 2) To find out the student’ reading ability after using learner centred approach method, 3) To analyze any significant difference the student in reading ability when using learner centred approach method to the student’s reading ability before and after treatment for tenth grade MIPA 1 of SMA NEGERI 2 NGANJUK in the Academic years of 2021/2022. Reading ability is one aspect in English that must be mastered by students where they will be easy to analyze in a text and can determine solutions to problems in the text. In this study, I used the Leaner Centered Approach to teach the reading skills of tenth graders at SMA Negeri 2 Nganjuk. The Learner Centered Approah method is student-centered, so activities will be directed at students. This method allows students to freely choose the sources that will be discussed in class, depending on the theme that has been chosen by the researcher This research is Pre-experimental with one-group pretest-posttest. The research was done in SMA Negeri 2 Nganjuk in the academic years of 2021/2022, by using the population whole tenth grade SMA Negeri 2 Nganjuk, the sample used by the researcher is the class X MIPA 1, treatment class consists of 35 students. The technique of sampling is using purposive sampling. The collecting data in this research by using tests. The technique of analyze used to analyze the data in this research is descriptive statistics, inferential statistics using t-test. Based on test scores. Students get an average pre-test score of 68,7 and an average post-test score of 88. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the significance level is 5% for Df = 34, tcount = 10,44 and ttable = 1,691, then tcount ttable which means Ha is accepted. So that "there are students significance differences before and after learning using the Learner Centered Approach method on student learning outcomes in the learning ability material for class X students of SMA Negeri 2 Nganjuk in the 2021/2022 academic year. The use Learner Centred Approach to teach Reading ability is able to make students interested and motivated in learning English. This method is very helpful for students to develop reading skill, easy to find and understand problem solving, and the class will feel more active, because the sources will be adjusted to the student
