Abstract

The purpose of the research is to find out the effectiveness of using Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) technique to improve students’ writing skill in recount text at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baron in the academic year 2018/2019. Based on the observation that was done by the researcher during teaching and learning process, the students were difficult to understand how to make good text. The methodology of the research was pre-experimental design (one group pre test – post test group design). The number of the students in this research was 29 studens. The technique used in collecting data was quantitative data with t-test. The result of students’ writing skill in recount text before taught by using Two Stay Two Stray technique at the VIII-F students has the mean 68,31 and the result of studets’ writing skill in recount text after taught by using Two Stay Two Stray technique at the VIII-F students has the mean 75. It can be written that the result of statistical computation value of t-test which was higher than t-table (t0 = 15,62 > t(1-α) = 2,04841). As the result that Ha has been accepted and Ho has been rejected. That is: “There is effectiveness of using Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) technique to improvestudents’ writing skill in recount text at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baron in the academic year of 2018/2019.”
