Abstract

The purposes of the research are (1) to find out the students’ pronunciation skill before taught using tongue twister, (2) to find out the students’ pronunciation skill after taught using tongue twister, and (3) to find out the effectiveness of tongue twister at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 2 Berbek in the academic year of 2018/2019. The methodology of the research is experimental with one group pre-test and post-test. The research was done in SMPN 2 Berbek in the academic year of 2018/2019 by using the population of the whole class VII 154 students, while the sample used by the researcher is the class VII-E by number of class is 30 students. The technique of sampling is using purposive sampling. The collecting data used test and observation. The class of VII-E as the experimental class and the technique of data analysis used to analyze the data in this research is statistical analysis data t-test. Based on the results of the test, students show the pre-test average score 49,666 and post-test 62,666. The score category is fair from most of them. Based on the result of analysis level significance d.b 5% is 30 by value table is 1,699 and the value of t-test is 9.212. it can be concluded as follow: ttest >ttable so,Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So that there is significant difference between students’ pronunciation skill before taught using tongue twister and after taught using tongue twister at the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Berbek in the academic year of 2018/2019.
