Abstract

The aims of this research are : (1) To analyze outline writing technique to be applied at the seventh grade student SMPN 2 Nganjuk in academic year of 2019/2020. (2) To analyze the students’ writing skill in descriptive text at the seventh grade student SMPN 2 Nganjuk in academic year of 2019/2020 (3) To improve the students’ writing skill in descriptive text with outline writing (OTW) technique at the seventh grade student SMPN 2 Nganjuk in academic year of 2019/2020. The research is Class Action Research. The subject of this research was class VII C SMP Negeri 2 Nganjuk in Academic Year of 2019/2020. The number of student in class VII C is 32 students. The collecting data used to observe the processing of the Outline Writing (OTW) technique, observing the activities of students, teachers and the final learning or formative test. The technique of analysis data used to analyze the data in this research is mean and then converted based on KKM or criteria success. Based on the result, the students’ average in writing descriptive text increased from 76,3 in cycle I to 80 cycle II. Students’ responses to the questionnaire showed that students' interest in learning to write descriptive text is 73,75 % in cycle I to 86 % in cycle II. It implies that outline writing technique is very effective to improve the students’ writing skill in descriptive text at the seventh grade student SMP Negeri 2 Nganjuk in academic year of 2019/2020.
