Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) To know the achievement of students' vocabulary understanding in narrative texts before being taught using Image Media as a medium for the teaching and learning process at SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk. (2) To know the achievement of students' vocabulary understanding in narrative texts after being taught using Image Media as a medium for the teaching and learning process at SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk. (3) To know the significant effectiveness the teaching and learning process before and after being taught using Image Media on students' vocabulary understanding in narrative texts in first class majoring in PKM at SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk. This type of research is a Quasi-experimental with one group pre-test post-test. The place used in this research is SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk in the academic year 2020/2021. The research population is class X as many as 100 students, while the sample used by researchers is class X majoring in PKM, totaling 41 students. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Data collection in this study used a written test. The data analysis technique used to analyze the data in this study is statistical analysis of t-test data. Based on the results of the test scores, the students showed an average score of 78.56 pre- test and 94.9 post-test. The category is good. Based on the results of the analysis, the significance level at d.b 5% is 40, the table value is 1.684 and the t-test value is 10,32. It can be concluded as follows: tcount > ttable then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, "There is a significant effectiveness before and after being taught using image media regarding vocabulary understanding in class X students majoring in PKM at SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk in the 2020/2021 school year."
