Abstract

The aim of this study was (1) to describe the student’s writing ability before being taught by Arranging Jumbled Sentences Game, (2) to describe the students writing ability after being taught by using Arranging Jumbled Sentences Game, (3) to know whether there is significant difference between students writing ability before and after being taught by using Arranging Jumbled Sentences Game and (4) to know whether Arranging Jumbled Sentences Game to teach writing for tenth grade students at SMK Islam Baburrohmah Mojosari effective. Quantitative experimental was used as the design of this research. The researcher used this design because he did experiment by using Arranging Jumbled Sentences Game then got the student’s score from pre test and post test. The subject of this research was the X-TSM class at SMK Islam Baburrohmah Mojosari. The researcher took one class which was taught by using Arranging Jumbled Sentences Game. To get the data, the researcher used test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used statistical t-test. The result of research found that (1) value of the student’s writing ability before being taught by using Arranging Jumbled Sentences Game was in fair category with the mean 58.77, (2) the students writing ability after being taught by using Arranging Jumbled Sentences Game was in enough category with the mean 73.22, (3) the result of t-test value is 6.01 while t-table with degree of freedom (df) 17 at 5 % significant level is 1.740. It can be seen that t-statistic value is higher than t-table because there is significant increase in students’ writing ability after doing treatment, and (4) it can be said that Arranging Jumbled Sentences Game to writing is really effective for the students’ writing ability at SMK Islam Baburrohmah Mojosari in academic year 2020/2021. So the alternative hypothesis was accepted.
