Abstract

The purpose of this study is 1) to find out how the English learning outcomes of students with high socio-economic conditions of parents, 2) how the English learning outcomes of students with middle-class parents socio-economic conditions, 3) how the results of language learning English students with low socio-economic conditions of parents, 4) whether there is a significant difference between the influence of parents' socio-economic on students' English learning achievement during the covid- 19 pandemic in class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Gondang academic year 2020 /2021 at the beginning of semester 1 before PTS. This research is a quantitative descriptive research with ex-post facto design. The place used is SMA Negeri 1 Gondang in academic year 2020/2021. The population was 302 students in class X, the sample used was 96 students, consisting of 32 students in class X-MIPA 1 ,X-IPA 4 , X- Mipa 5 with taking samples using random sampling. There are 80 student that qualified. Data collection techniques are documentation and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used ONE WAY ANOVA) with hypothesis testing using critical F. Based on the results, students show the average value with upper socio-economic is 88.46, middle socio-economic is 78.65, students with lower socio-economic is 76.02. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the significance level is 5% for Dfb = 2, Dfw = 77, Ftable = 3.11 and Fcount = 2.251, then Fcount <Ftable, which means Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected.
