Abstract
This article was to determine the perspectives and views of second semester students of the English Education Study Program at STKIP PGRI Nganjuk about the importance of understanding idioms in reading activities. This research was a qualitative descriptive study that explained about a phenomenon by analyzing data from observations, questionnaires. The research was conducted at the English Education Department of STKIP PGRI Nganjuk in the 2021/2022 academic year. The subjects of this study were the second semester, 36 students. While the object was the student's perspective on the importance of understanding idioms in reading activities. It used observations and questionnaires as data collection instruments. Observation sheets are used to find out the real condition of students when carrying out reading activities. The result showed that students still consider learning idioms to be difficult and special methods are needed so that they can understand and use idioms more effectively.
