Abstract
The aims of this study were 1) to find out how the students' speaking ability was before the application of the video dubbing technique, 2) to find out how the students' speaking ability was after the application of the video dubbing technique, 3) to find out whether the video dubbing technique was effective or not in improving students' speaking skills. This research is an experimental research. The place used in this study is SMP Negeri 1 Gondang in 2021/2022. The population of this study was 288 students, while the sample used in this study was 32 students of class VIII-B. Data collection techniques using essay questions as much as 2 questions. The data analysis technique in this study is the t-test statistical data analysis. Based on the results of the test scores, students showed an average pretest score of 59.53 and posttest 81.56 for t-count 2.453, while t-table was 1.696, so t-count>t-table, which means Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So "there is a significant effect between using the video dubbing technique and not using the video dubbing technique for the speaking ability of students at SMP Negeri 1 Gondang for the academic year 2021-2022".
