Abstract

The objective of the research are (1) to find out the students’writing skill before being taught by using Instagram expanded caption, (2) to find out the students’ writing skill on descriptive text after being taught by using Instagram expanded caption, and (3) to find out the effectiveness of Instagram expanded caption in teaching writing skill on descriptive text at X MIPA 1 students of SMAN 2 Nganjuk in the academic year of 2021/2022. The research methodology is experimental with one group pre-test and post- test. The research was done in SMAN 2 Nganjuk in the academic year of 2021/2022 by using population of the whole class X 311 students. the sample used by the researcher is the class X MIPA 1 that consists of 34 students. The technique of sampling is using purposive sampling. The collecting data in this research by using test. The technique of analysis data used to analyze the data in this research is statistical analysis data t-test. Based on the results of the test, the conclusion are the student’s show the pre-test average score 70,00 and post-test 82,65. Therefore, the hypothesis of this research is accepted. It means that the Instagram expanded caption have significantly improved the students’ writing skill on descriptive text and in the learning process. The result of the research shows that the difference in the writing skill between the students taught using Instagram expanded caption and those taught not using Instagram expanded caption is significant. The used of Instagram expanded caption technique will significant if tcount > ttable . Data analysis above shows that tcount > ttable (14,05> 1,691), so Ha is accepted. So that there is effectiveness of instagram expanded caption at the X MIPA 1 of SMAN 2 Nganjuk in the academic year of 2021/2022.
