Abstract

The purpose of the research is (1) to find out how the students vocabulary skills before applying PVN technique, (2) to find out how the students vocabulary skills after applying PVN technique, and (3) to find out the significant different of the students Vocabulary Skills before and after applying PVN technique at the Tenth Grade X MIPA 1 of SMAN 1 Rejoso. Vocabulary is a collection of words in a language. While Personal Vocabulary Notes (PVN) is a way developing students vocabulary personally in the form of notebooks to collect the difficult words for the easy to understand and memorize. Personal Vocabulary Notes is appropriate to use to increase the students vocabulary skills by taking notes, remembering and memorizing is the right way because it does not make it difficult for students. This research is an experimental research, the researcher use a pre-experimental design type, The One Group Pre-test and Post-test. The place this research in SMA Negeri 1 Rejoso. The research population was 281 students and they are divided into eight classes. And the sample taken is class X MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Rejoso, totaling 36 students. The class X MIPA 1. The technique collecting data uses a multiple choice test of 20 questions. The data analysis technique in this research is statistical data analysis t-test. Based on the results of the test scores, students showed an average pre-test score of 66,11 and post-test 82.63, for the t-test result is 11, t-count is 2438 while the t-table was 1,690, then t-count > t-table, which means Ho is rejected and Ha be accepted. So " there is a significant different between using Personal Vocabulary Notes technique and not using Personal Vocabulary Notes technique in students of X MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Rejoso in the academic year of 2021/2022 ". The conclusions before and after using Personal Vocabulary Notes (PVN) technique is the score of pre test is lower that the post test score. That is pre test score is 611,11 and post test score is 82,63. And the significant different between before and after of using Personal Vocabulary Notes (PVN) technique is can increase the students vocabulary skill. This is indicated by the result of T-test is 11 greater than T table 1.690.
