Abstract

The aims of this study were (1) to determine the accuracy of students' achievement in students' writing skills before using silent movie as a technique in the process of learning to write narrative text. (2) To find out the achievement of students' accuracy in students' writing skills after using silent movies as a method in the process of learning to write narrative text. (3) To find out the significant differences before and after being taught using the Silent Movie method to improve the accuracy of students' writing skills in the teaching and learning process at SMAN 2 Nganjuk in the 2021/2022 academic year. This type of research is quasi-experimental with one group pre-test post-test. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Nganjuk in the academic year 2021/2022, using a population of all class X totaling 344 students, the sample used by the author was class X IPS 1 which amounted to 35 students. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Collecting data in this study using tests. The data analysis technique used to analyze the data in this research is descriptive statistics, inferential statistics using t-test and N-Gain test. Based on the test results, the students showed an average score of 51 pre-test and 75.7 post-test. Based on the results of the analysis of the significance level of db. 5% at number 34, then the table value is 1.691 and the t-test value is 23, 5. It can be concluded as follows: tcount > ttable then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. In addition, the N-Gain test shows that 29 students with gain scores are in the high category with a percentage of 82%, there are 6 students in the medium category with a percentage of 18%, and there are no students' scores in the low category. The average gain score in this class is included in the high category with a result of 865. So "There is a Significant Improvement Before and After Being Taught Using the Silent Movie Method Against Writing Narrative Text to Students at SMAN 2 Nganjuk Academic Year 2021/2022."
