Abstract
Reading understanding is one of the problems faced by students in reading they cannot for on what they read during reading and still having difficult getting the idea of the text answering a reading understanding test will take a long time if they use an inappropriate strategy.Another problem is that not every detail of information in the section is needed to answer the question of reading question but students usually read the word by word .Reading text words for word also make them quickly forget what they have read. Researchers choose one creative strategi namely of strategy collaborative reading a strategy in teaching understanding the reading understanding of the reading needed to helps students understand of the reading of the text Collaborative strategic reading can easy develop students work reading skill especially in recount text .In the purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the collaborative strategy to read towards the achievement of reading understanding for the students of class X PKM SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk. This study was pre experimental. The data is collected from the pre-test and post-test. The instrument is given to students from the class X PKM which consist 32 students. Data is taken from 25 questions that must be answered in multiple choice. Before the students were given their post test given three meetings for treatment, and then the data was analysed by using T-test result that showed a different average value between before the test and after the test. The mean score in the post-test was 80,15. It could be seen that the mean of test of the students who were taught after by using Collaborative Strategic Reading re better than the test of the students taught before by Collaborative Strategic Reading. Based on the data above, T-value was 14,71. In this case, the researcher determined the t-critical value based on test. It has 1,692 on 5% level of significant. So,14,71>1,602 it meant that t-value was higher than �t table on 5% of level significant. So that, hypothesis was accepted. It meant that using collaborative strategic reading were effective to teach reading skill of the tenth grade at SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk in the academic year 2021-222.
