Abstract

The research is about the effectiveness of the students’ writing skill by using cartoon picture series at the tenth accounting 1 grade in the academic year of 2018 / 2019. The objective of this research is (I) to find out students writing skill before using cartoon picture series in narrative text, (II) to find out students writing skill after using cartoon picture series in narrative text, (III) to analyzed the analyzed the significance different between student's writing skill before using cartoon picture series and after using cartoon picture series in narrative text. The methodology of the research was experimental research (pre-test and post-test design). With the total population of tenth grade students are 186 students and the sample at tenth accounting 1 grade with the total 31 students, this research was done at SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk in the academic year of 2018 / 2019. The technique of collecting data used documentation and test (pre-test and post test) and the technique of data analysis in this research is statistical analysis data t-test. The result of this research showed that teaching writing skill by using cartoon picture series can improve the students writing skill. Based on the results of pre-test and post-test, it can be concluded that the tenth accounting 1 grade of SMK PGRI Nganjuk academic year 2018/2019 achieve better achievement in writing skill after treatment. In pre-test, the highest value is 75 for 1 student, and the lowest value is 55 for 1 student. Whereas in the post-test, the highest value is 90 in 3 students, and the lowest value is 76 in 3 students. Based on the result of this research, it could be concluded that the using cartoon picture series as method is effective toward students’ writing skill at SMK PGRI 2 Nganjuk in the academic year of 2018/2019.
