Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the understanding on the generic structure of animated stories with their skills in writing narrative texts on class VIII students. This research is a multiple correlation study with quantitative design. The place used in this study is the SMPN 3 Bagor in the academic year of 2018/2019. The research population was class VIII as many as 71 students, while the sample used by researchers was class VIII-B with a total of 24 students. Data collection techniques with tests and assignments. Research data were analyzed using multiple correlation. The formula used to determine the correlation of understanding on the generic structure to the animated stories and students writing skills in narrative text. Based on the results of the study are as follows, Learning in understanding on the generic structure of animated stories in class VIII B at SMPN 3 Bagor gets a value with an average of 72 , Based on calculation of product moment correlation obtained by is 0,83 , including very strong categories and Students writing skills on the generic structure in narrative text with the type of fable in class VIII B at SMPN 3 Bagor gets a value with the an average of 52 , based on calculation of product moment correlation obtained by is 0,71,including strong categories. The final result of the calculation of multiple correlation obtained byis 0,90,including very strong categories and F count > F table. It can be concluded that there is a significant correlation study between students understanding on the generic structure and their writing skill in narrative text in eighth grade at SMPN 3 Bagor in the academic year of 2018/2019.
