Abstract

The objectives of the research were to know whether or not diary photo’s is effective on students’ writing of recount text and to get empirical evidence of the effectiveness of diary photo’s on students’ writing of recount text at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Baron. Finally diary photo is effective use to increase student’s writing skill in recount text at the eight grade of SMPN 1 Baron. The population of the research, moreover, was 232 students from the total of eight classes. The sample was obtained by using purposive sampling technique resulting in one class with 29 students class. The instrument used in this research was an assignment in the form of test. The technique used in collecting data was quantitative data with t-test. The research, furthermore, was conducted by following the procedure: giving pre-test and post-test. The data of the tests were then calculated by using t-test. It could be seen from the result of calculation that the students’ scores of post-test is higher than of pre-test. The mean score of post-test was 77,8. Meanwhile, the mean score of pre-test was 73,96. Furthermore, based on the statistical calculation with the significant level of 5% and It means that t013,07is higher than t (1-α) that was 2,044841. Therefore, it proved the alternative hypothesis, which state that there was significant different between the students’ score in writing by diary photo’s and not used diary photo’s at the eighth grade of UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Baron in the academic year of 2018/2019.
