Abstract
The purpose of the research are (1)To find out students’ writing skill in descriptive text before taught by using Point Counterpoint method(2) To find out the students’ writing skill after taught by using Point Counterpoint method (3) To find out the effect between before and after using Point Counterpoint method in student’s writing skill on process dscriptive text in the eighth grade. The research was done in Mts Darunnajah Sawahan in academic year of 2018/2019 by using Point Counterpoint method, the population whole class VIII with the total 63 students, while the sample is used by the researcher in the class VIII-B by number of class is 33 students. in completing the research this research used pre-experimental design using quantitative approach with one group pretest-posttest design. Based on the results of the test. Students show the score-average pre-test 67,42 and pos-tset 73,33. From the data analysis the value of t0 = 5,72and ttable 5% = 2,03693. It canbe seen if t0> t (1-α). It means that t0 is higher than t (1-α). As the result that Ha has been accepted and Ho has been rejected. Sot that “there is the effective from using Point Counterpoint method to teach student’s writing skill in descriptive text at the eighth grade of MTs Darunajah Sawahan n the acdemic year of 2018/2019”.
