Abstract

As an International Language, English is very important to study. It has four skills to master, one of them is writing. It plays an important role in human life because we can get new information, new vocabulary, and structural pattern. In teaching writing recount text, some activities might be necessary to carry out in order to enchance the process of comprehension, and the implementation of model in teaching learning activities in order to make students interesting in their lesson and to make it easy. This research is aimed to answer the following question: 1) How do the teacher apply the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) to teach writing recount text for the tenth-grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Mojokerto? 2). How do the students study writing recount text using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC)? 3) How is the result of the implementaion of the Cooperative integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) to teach writing recount text for the tenth-grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Mojokerto? The study was conducted by applying descriptive design in order to identify, describe and know about students responses in writing recount text. The data gained through four kinds of instruments: observation, questionnaire, documentation, and interview. In analizing, the researcher find that the teacher use Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) in teaching writing recount text. This research took place in SMA Negeri 1 Mojokerto. The answers of the first problem are: The procedure of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Compositiom (CIRC) model are : a) giving stimulation to the students, b) explain the material about recount text, c) asking the students to make a group consist of 4 students, d) giving text that content is recount text, e) asking the students to read and discuss the text, f) discussing the text together, g) guiding the students to write the text, i) collecting their work, j) review and conclude the material that has been taught. and for answers of the second problem about the students’ responses in learning writing recount text were: Students are not bored, more enthusiast and active to cooperate and communicate with other students. The third answer is the students more enthusiast and enjoy, the students also can cooperate with other students. The conclusion based on the finding of this study is the teaching writing rexount text by using CIRC is so interesting for the students.
