Abstract

Writing is one of the most essential skills that should be mastered by students in learning English, they are expected to be able to express their ideas and thoughts to improve their communication skill. Teaching writing can be really important because it belongs to the basic language skills in English. The problem faced by the students and the teacher are caused by some factors that may come from the students, the teacher, media, or the technique used in teaching learning process. The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness of using instagram on students’ writing of recount text. The method used in this study was quantitative method. The design of this study was quasi experimental design. The instrument used in this research is an essay test. The researcher will give the test to students to write, 1) Post test is given before the research is conducted in order to know students’ ability to write. 2) Treatment after giving post-test the students are given the treatment. 3) Post test, in the end the writer gives post-test to students in order to know whether there is a significant difference before and after treatment. The subjects of this study concerntrated of the Tenth Grade TKL 3 and TKL 4 SMK Tamansiswa students Mojokerto in academic year 2020/2021. There are 34 students in the class. Based on the result of data analysis, it’s proven that the students’ achievement of writing taught by using Instagram is increase. It means that the use of instagram in teaching writing is effective.
