Abstract

The objective of the research was (1) To investigate the eleventh-grade students of SMK Taman Siswa use the social media, (2) To investigate the eleventh-grade students of SMK Tamansiswa’s achievement in writing analytical exposition, (3 To investigate any statistically significant influence in the use of social media toward writing achievement. The research was done in SMK Tamansiswa Mojokerto in the academic year 2020/2021. By using the population whole class eleventh with the total 380 students, the researcher used simple random sampling technique to take the sample. The researcher took the sample was 10% of all the students in eleventh grade, so the researcher got the sample was 38 students. The researcher used test to get the result of students habit of using social media and writing test. Questionnaire was used by the researcher to students habit of using social media and essay test actually make a analytical exposition text was used to writing test. After tests had done, the researcher got the result of the test. The researcher used expost facto design and the Independent t-test formula for the technique of analysis data. Based on the results from the study, the researcher compare between t-value and t-table which 5% (α = 0.05) and n = 38, df = (-2), so the researcher got the df= 36 and t-table score is 2,042. So it means t obtained = 10,336 is higher than t-table = 2,042 (10,336>2,042). The researcher concludes that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It was found that there was significant difference between students who have high habits of using social media achieve better score in writing analytical exposition of the eleventh grade students of SMK Tamansiswa Mojokerto in academic year 2020/2021.
