Abstract

The purposes of the study can be stated as follows: 1) to measure the level of translation ability of the eleventh grade students of MA Nurul Ulum 2) to measure the level of reading comprehension of the eleventh grade students of MA Nurul Ulum 3) to find out the correlation students’ translation ability and their reading comprehension of the eleventh grade students of MA Nurul Ulum. The research used descriptive quantitative and the design employed was correlational research. The research was done in MA Nurul Ulum Pungging in academic year 2020/2021. The researcher took 20 students as samples. It was taken from all population of the research by using total sampling method technique. This research used quantitative data with analysis of using pearson product moment coefficient. Besides calculating the correlation by using SPSS 26, it is also calculated manually. Based on the results revealed that average translation test was 52,15%. It can be concluded that the students’ competency was poor. Secondly, the average reading comprehension test was 52%. It can be concluded that the students’ competency was poor. Finally, it was found that correlation coefficient obtained was -0.278. It shows that the correlation was weak between student’s translation ability and their reading comprehension at MA Nurul Ulum.
