Abstract

Learning grammar will influence all language skill which should be master by the students and those skills are connected to each other, especially grammar and writing.. The goal of the research is: (1) to identify the types of grammatical error in Paragraph Writing, (2) to figure out the grammatical error that often made by EFL students, and (3) to describe the Interlingual transfer error of EFL student’s. To achieved the goals of the research, the researcher used linguistic taxonomy and then figuring out the types of error that often made by the students and the researcher also describe the interlingual transfer error that can affect EFL student’s. This research used qualitative as research design with content analysis approach and class 2020 B from second year's students English Department of STKIP PGRI Jombang as the subject. The researcher used the student’s worksheet as the source of data and sentence in paragraph writing as the data.In this research, the researcher is the main instrument and used document as supporting instrument to collect the data. The findings of this research reveal six types of grammatical error found in worksheet of paragraph writing and indefinite article incorrect an used for a is the most grammatical error that often made by students with 30% errors.The researcher also found that there is interlingual transfer error that could affect EFL student’s grammatical error in paragraph writing.
