Abstract
The purpose of this research is (1) to learn the students 'skills in writing explanatory texts before learning to use ESA techniques, (2) to find out students' skills in writing recount texts after learning to use ESA techniques, and (3) to seek knowledge from ESA techniques in XI class of SMK Negeri 2 Nganjuk in the academic year 2019/2020. This research is an experimental type with one group pre-test and post-test. This research was conducted at State Vocational School 2 Nganjuk 2019/2020 academic year by using the participation of all students of class X128, while the sample used by researchers was 10% of participants using class XI BDP 2 with a total of 38 students. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data collection using tests. Class XI BDP 2 as an experimental class and data analysis technique used to analyze the data in this study is the statistical analysis of t-test data. Based on the results, students showed an average score of 78.02 pre-test and 86.81 post-test. Enough score categories for most students. Based on the analysis of the significance level of 20% is 38 with a table value of 1.687 and t-test value is 31.34. It can be concluded as follows: test> t finished table, Ha accepted. Why is there a significant difference between students' writing skills before using ESA techniques and after using ESA techniques in eleventh grade at SMK Negeri 2 Nganjuk in the 2019/2020 academic year.
